Tattoo By Van Halen

So, I checked out the brand new song from 3/4 the original members of Van Halen on youtube called Tattoo. I'm not so sure what I'm supposed to think after listening to that track and I have mixed emotions about it. I will say that I thought the video was a little cheesy and it was sort of a flashback to bad 80's videos. The song makes me wonder what the rest of the album will sound like when it comes out.

It's almost been thirty years since the band had recorded a full album with Diamond David Lee Roth (the last being 1984) at the helm handling vocal duties. Obviously, the band has put away their egos in order to make Van Halen fans dreams come true. The lyrics to me are a little cheesy and the song feels to forced. It's almost like their trying to go back in time to record what they think may have come out after 1984. I will say this that the song is no And The Cradle Will Rock, Unchained, Jump, or even Panama. They are obviously trying to go after the recent craze of tattoos becoming the norm and I think they should quit while their ahead. But, I'm a loyal David Lee Roth fan and I am willing to dismiss this song in order to hear the full length album when it comes out in February.

Tony Iommi Diagnosed With Lymphoma

Do not put your reading glasses on or do not adjust your computer screen because it's true. Metal's Godfather and living legend Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath has been diagnosed with Lymphoma which according to MetalInjection.net is cancer of the Immune system. Here is the official statement from the Black Sabbath camp:

"With the news that Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages if lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan--the "IRON MAN" of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."

I know that cancer is a serious deal because of the fact that we lost Ronnie James Dio due to cancer, but I know in my heart that Tony Iommi will fight through this and he will back to finish what he and the newly reunited Sabbath have set out to do. So, my thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes are with Tony Iommi at this time.

Tribute To Dio On It's Way

That is right my friends and fellow metalheads out there, a tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio is in the works according to his wife and widow, Wendy Dio. The reports so far is that Dave Grohl, Lemmy of Motorhead, Alice Cooper, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Ian Gilligan, and Glen Hughes have signed on so far to do the tribute. The reports so far is that Dave Grohl will be covering the Black Sabbath with Dio Classic, Mob Rules and Rob Halford will be covering the Rainbow classic, Long Live Rock And Roll. They are still trying to figure out who will be covering what on this tribute record and I imagine that more artists will sign on to do the record.

I hope Sebastian Bach will cover something like The Last In Line or one of my favorite Dio solo songs, Sacred Children. I think I can see Lemmy covering something off the new Elves alum that just recently came out and I can also see him covering something off of the Heaven And Hell record from Black Sabbath.  Stay tuned for more information to hopefully come soon.
